Fractional leadership

Fractional CTO, CISO & CTVO Leadership

I bring world-class CTO, CISO, CTVO, and EiR expertise to startups, business units, and companies on a part-time basis, a C-suite native who can blend into the engineering team that has to ship, and the boardroom that has to decide what to build next.

I also speak: keynotes, panels, and executive briefings. See speaking

Chief Technology & Venture Officer

Fractionally available, like the CTO and CISO engagements

A CTO makes the technology organization better. A Chief Technology & Venture Officer asks what entirely new company, product, business model, or competitive advantage the technology now makes possible.

Chief Technology & Venture Officer is the executive responsible for turning technology capability into enterprise advantage, new products, and new businesses. The role sits at the intersection of CTO, corporate strategist, and entrepreneur-in-residence, working with boards, CEOs, and leadership teams on the technology decisions that have material consequences for growth, competitiveness, and enterprise value.

Unlike a traditional CTO whose mandate is primarily to operate the existing technology organization, the CTVO looks across the enterprise for what technology should make possible next. That includes evaluating emerging technologies and AI, shaping technology and product strategy, identifying opportunities to create or acquire new capabilities, incubating new ventures, modernizing existing businesses, assessing technical investments and acquisitions, and helping leadership determine where technology deserves capital, talent, and executive attention.

The questions a CTVO answers

  • What businesses could we build that we cannot build today?
  • Which technology shifts could materially change our economics or competitive position?
  • What should we build, buy, partner for, invest in, or stop doing?
  • Where can AI create an entirely different operating model rather than simply automate the existing one?
  • How do we convert promising technology experiments into scalable businesses?

The Chief Technology & Venture Officer turns technology from an operating function into an instrument for creating enterprise value.

The fractional roles

01.

Fractional CTVO

Chief Technology & Venture Officer leadership for boards and CEOs, turning technology capability into new ventures, new products, and measurable enterprise value. Available fractionally, the same way I serve as a world-class CTO, CISO, and EiR.

  • Technology & venture strategy for the board
  • Build, buy, partner, or invest analysis
  • AI as a new operating model, not automation
  • Technical due diligence for acquisitions
02.

Fractional CTO

Senior technical leadership on retainer: architecture, roadmap, hiring, and delivery discipline for teams that cannot yet justify a full-time chief technologist.

  • Architecture and platform review
  • Product-market fit for technical products
  • Engineering org design and coaching
03.

Fractional CISO

Security and compliance leadership for regulated, safety-critical products, from posture assessment to board-level risk reporting.

  • Security program design and governance
  • Regulated-industry compliance readiness
  • Incident preparedness and response planning
04.

Entrepreneur in Residence

When a market looks lucrative but the path to a product is unclear, I help define, build, and launch the offering with the P&L owner.

  • Opportunity and build-vs-buy analysis
  • Zero-to-one product definition
  • IP and patent strategy
