His primary responsibility is as CEO of Netspective Communications, a software architecture and engineering firm delivering custom software for in-house, outsourced, or offshore solutions.

Shahid has also served as a senior technology advisor to OMB's Budget System Branch, the eGov Budget Formulation & Execution Line of Business, Veterans Affairs, OSEHRA, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

Shahid has architected and built multiple clinical solutions over a decades-long career. He helped design and deploy the American Red Cross's electronic health record solution across thousands of sites, built several web-based EMRs now used by hundreds of physicians, designed large groupware and collaboration sites used by thousands, and as a former CTO for a billion-dollar division of Cardinal Health helped design advanced clinical interfaces for medical devices and hospitals.

He has also served as a senior technology strategy advisor to NIH's and TATRC's SBIR/STTR programs, helping small businesses commercialize healthcare applications.

Shahid has led or participated in numerous cybersecurity risk assessments, threat assessments, risk management programs, penetration testing efforts, and systems quality initiatives across government agencies as well as the medical device, insurance, and health IT sectors. He served as chief architect for OMB and BFELoB secure collaboration platforms and was responsible for both strategy and implementation leadership of the government's largest cross-agency identity management solution, focused on multifactor authentication, authorization, and identity assurance.

He has guided numerous projects through FISMA compliance and FedRAMP certification, helped AHIP develop cybersecurity strategy for its member insurers, and authored the "Cybersecurity Risks" and "Conducting Digital Health Risk Assessments" chapters of Insurance and Risk Management Strategies for Physicians and Advisors.

Over several decades he has held the positions of CTO, VP of Technology, Chief Software Architect, and Enterprise Architect at large enterprises.
